When the Affinity i-Marketing search engine optimisation experts began activity on the Curtains website it was discovered that at some point in the past another company had been employed to build links to the website, instead of seeking relevant, quality, high PR, links they seemed to have gained extremely poor links from literally thousands of sources. It was believed that this was the main barrier in the way of the search engines taking the website seriously.

The bad links were removed from the website and together with a complete on-site optimisation the website started to climb up the rankings finally making it not just to number 1 in Google but number 2 in Yahoo and number 2 in MSN for Curtains but a whole host of other relevant terms.

This success led to the recomissioning of sister company Affinity New Media to completely rebuild the site with a host of new features, a new design and an enhanced administration suite.

The rebuild also involved the merger of CurtainsCurtainsCurtains and the company’s second website Cushions Bedding and Throws into one. This, in conjunction with a complete rebuild, had the potential of having massive implications for existing rankings.

Affinity i-Marketing were heavily involved in the initial designs right through to launch ensuring any decisions made had the existing rankings in mind. The migration process was also closely monitored and directed by us to ensure all pages redirected to their new versions, all links were maintained and all meta data, content etc remained stable.
